What has
four wheels and will be used to crack down on South Florida's pet
overpopulation?
A new $160,000 bus that doubles as a mobile pet clinic,
according to two Broward County-based
nonprofit organizations that showcased it for the first time Tuesday.
The Clydey Foundation and Stray Aid & Rescue are two philanthropic groups that
push pet adoptions and spaying and neutering, to prevent pets from being
euthanized in shelters.
Organizers said they teamed up last year, conducted fund-raisers and raised
enough money to buy the 30-foot vehicle, aiming to provide medical care to more
pets.
Inside the bus, veterinarians will vaccinate and sterilize pets, check their
health or implant identification microchips. The bus also will be driven to
special events to raise awareness about pet overpopulation.
The mobile clinic, whose prices will range from $25 to $50 to spay or neuter
pets, will open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 29, June 30 and July 1 in the parking
lot of the National Guard Armory at 400 SW 24th St.,
Fort Lauderdale. Appointments can be
